Returns &
Refund Policy
Transparent, fair, and clearly stated. Our complete deposit, refund, and cancellation terms — so you can reserve with confidence.
Policy Overview
This Return and Refund Policy governs all transactions between Cane Blue Kennel (“Kennel,” “we,” “us“) and puppy buyers (“Buyer,” “you“). By placing a deposit or completing a purchase, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms set forth in this policy in their entirety.
Cane Blue Kennel is a licensed commercial dog breeder operating under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the regulations of Fayette County. All sales are governed by Pennsylvania law. Because living animals are involved, our refund terms differ from standard retail policies and are structured to protect both the welfare of the animal and the integrity of our breeding program.
We have maintained a transparent, fair, and clearly communicated policy for over 20 years. We will always work in good faith with buyers experiencing genuine hardship — but we must balance that with the reality that each reserved puppy represents a commitment on both sides.
Required to secure your place in our reservation queue. Amount confirmed at time of reservation.
Remaining balance is due when you collect your puppy in person or prior to shipping arrangement.
Covers hereditary and genetic conditions as defined in Section 5. Vet exam required within 72 hours of pickup.
All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Fayette County, Pennsylvania courts.
Deposits & Reservations
A deposit of $300 to $500 (the exact amount confirmed at time of reservation) is required to secure your position in our puppy reservation queue. Deposits are accepted via the methods listed on our reservation page and are processed immediately upon submission.
Your deposit reserves your position in the queue — not a specific puppy. Puppy selection is made in strict order of deposit date when the litter is born and evaluated, typically at 6–8 weeks of age. Buyers earlier in the queue have first selection rights by gender preference as previously stated at time of reservation.
Deposits are non-transferable to another buyer or another kennel. They may only be applied to a future Cane Blue Kennel litter under the terms set out in Section 3 of this policy.
By submitting a deposit, you confirm that you have reviewed our available litter information, understand the expected timeline, and accept the full terms of this policy. Deposits do not constitute a guarantee of a puppy of any specific color, gender, or coat type beyond what was expressly agreed in writing at time of reservation.
Refund Schedule
Refund eligibility is determined by the timing of your cancellation relative to the expected litter and your position in the reservation queue. The following schedule applies to all standard reservation cancellations initiated by the Buyer.
| Circumstance | Deposit Refund | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Kennel cancels litter or is unable to produce a puppy | Full Refund | Within 14 business days |
| Puppy does not pass veterinary exam within 72 hours (health defect) | Full Refund or Replacement | Within 14 business days of vet report |
| Buyer cancels more than 60 days before expected whelp date | 50% Refund or Full Credit | Within 21 business days |
| Buyer cancels 30–60 days before expected whelp date | Credit to Future Litter Only | Applied within 12 months |
| Buyer cancels fewer than 30 days before expected whelp date | Non-Refundable | Deposit forfeited |
| Buyer fails to pick up puppy by agreed date without notice | Non-Refundable | Deposit & puppy forfeited |
| Buyer declines all available puppies in selected litter | Credit to Next Available Litter | Applied within 12 months |
Credits issued under this policy are valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issuance and may be applied to any future Cane Blue Kennel litter of equal or lesser deposit value. Credits have no cash value and are non-transferable.
Buyer Cancellations
To initiate a cancellation, the Buyer must notify Cane Blue Kennel in writing via email to canebluekennel@gmail.com. Cancellations communicated verbally — by phone, text, or in person — will not be processed until written confirmation is received. The date of written notice determines which refund tier applies under Section 3.
We understand that life circumstances change. If you are facing a genuine hardship, please contact us before cancelling. In many cases, we can defer your deposit to a future litter, adjust your pickup date, or work out an arrangement that protects your investment. We will always make reasonable efforts to accommodate buyers who communicate with us promptly and honestly.
Cane Blue Kennel reserves the right to cancel a reservation at our sole discretion if a Buyer is found to have provided false information, intends to use the puppy for commercial resale or mass breeding, cannot demonstrate the ability to provide appropriate care, or has violated any term of this policy. In such cases, a full deposit refund will be issued.
Health Guarantee
Every Cane Blue Kennel puppy is sold with a two-year (2-year) written health guarantee covering hereditary and genetic conditions as defined below. This guarantee is one of the strongest in the industry and reflects our confidence in our health-tested breeding program.
Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, hereditary cardiac conditions, and other confirmed genetic defects diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian within the guarantee period.
Illness due to injury, neglect, improper diet, environmental exposure, failure to vaccinate, parasites, or conditions resulting from the Buyer’s care practices.
To activate the health guarantee: the Buyer must have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of taking possession. Failure to obtain this exam voids the health guarantee entirely. The veterinarian’s written report must be submitted to us at canebluekennel@gmail.com within 5 business days of the exam if a health concern is identified.
In the event of a confirmed covered condition, Cane Blue Kennel will offer, at our election: (a) a replacement puppy from the next available litter of comparable quality, or (b) a full refund of the purchase price. We do not reimburse veterinary fees, travel costs, or any consequential expenses.
All of our breeding dogs are OFA health tested for hips, elbows, and cardiac function before entering our program. This is not standard industry practice — it is our baseline requirement for every animal we breed from.
Returns & Surrenders
Cane Blue Kennel does not accept returns of sold puppies for buyer’s remorse, lifestyle changes, or circumstances unrelated to a covered health defect. Dogs are living animals, not products, and their wellbeing is our primary concern in all decisions.
If you find yourself genuinely unable to care for a Cane Blue puppy or adult dog at any point in the dog’s life, we ask — and contractually require — that you contact us before surrendering the dog to a rescue, shelter, or third party. We will always work to help rehome a Cane Blue dog to a vetted, appropriate home. This right-of-first-refusal clause is included in your purchase contract and is a condition of sale.
No monetary refund is issued for returned or surrendered dogs. Our obligation is to the welfare of the animal, not to recovering your purchase price. If you are experiencing difficulty with your dog’s training or behavior, please contact us — we provide lifetime behavioral support and will help you find a solution before surrender becomes necessary.
Shipping & Transport
Cane Blue Kennel offers nationwide puppy shipping via Delta Cargo to most major U.S. airports. Shipping fees of $300–$600 are the sole responsibility of the Buyer and are non-refundable once the puppy has been shipped, regardless of outcome.
Once a puppy is handed to a carrier or transport service, Cane Blue Kennel’s liability for the animal’s condition is limited to confirmed health defects covered under Section 5. We are not responsible for delays, misrouting, or harm caused by the carrier during transport. We strongly recommend travel insurance for shipped puppies and will provide documentation to support any insurance claim.
Buyers who elect to use a third-party pet nanny, ground transport, or any courier other than Delta Cargo do so at their own risk. Cane Blue Kennel does not warranty the conduct or reliability of third-party transport services.
Whenever possible, we encourage buyers to pick up their puppy in person at our Uniontown, Pennsylvania kennel. This allows you to meet the parents, see the environment your puppy was raised in, and begin your relationship with your new dog under the best possible circumstances.
How to Request a Refund
Email your cancellation or refund request to canebluekennel@gmail.com with your full name, the date of your deposit, and the reason for your request. Written notice is required — verbal communication does not initiate the process.
We will acknowledge your request within 2 business days and confirm which refund tier applies based on the timing of your notice and the terms of this policy.
For health-related refund claims, submit your licensed veterinarian’s written diagnosis and any supporting records. Claims without documentation cannot be processed.
Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 14 business days of final approval. Credits are issued in writing and valid for 12 months from issuance date.
